| Training FUNdamentals 2 (Tricks and Training Games) This is a 4- week course for graduates of Training Fundamentals or Small Dog Fundamentals, private clients or approved teams. This class is a fun way to take your training to the next level. Each week one trick will be taught (wave, take a bow, roll over , spin - or if your dog knows one of these pick a trick of your own). Several training games will be played each week to help proof and strengthen leash walking, stays and come when called. | Tricks (with Sassie Joiris - click for bio) Who doesn’t love tricks? Trick training is a chance to interact with your dog without the self-imposed stress of training for competition, it’s an opportunity to teach your dog ‘show off’ skills that impress your friends, and it’s certainly always a good laugh, but trick training can be much more than that. Trick training also teaches problem solving, increases attention, and improves physical fitness. Whether your dog is fully trained, or a puppy just learning his name, as long as he has an appetite he can have fun learning new ways to impress you. This high energy class will cover golden oldies like shaking hands and rolling over as well as less common tricks like crawling backward, turning on a light and pouring a drink. Since dogs come in all shapes and sizes, tricks do too, so we’ll all work together to find the perfect tricks to showcase each dog’s special qualities. More importantly, rather than taking a cookbook approach to teaching each trick step by step, you’ll learn some simple techniques that will make enable you to teach a wide variety of tricks quickly and easily. You’ll go home not only with a dog who knows some new tricks, but with a good foundation for lots of others. Every dog has at least one trick that they will excel at, and every trick has benefits way beyond just goofing around. | Agility FUNdamentals 1 This is a 6-week agility FUN class for social dogs. Agility helps boost your dog’s confidence and strengthens the relationship between dog and owner. This class will help strengthen your dog’s obedience skills as well. Low level jumps, tunnels, planks and wobble boards will be introduced in this class as well as introduction to handling skills. This class will prepare you for further agility FUN training or for competition. Pre-requisite: Training Fundamentals or equivalent in the form of private lessons or another training school. Dogs must have basic obedience training (Sit, Down, Stay and Come when called). We have real agility equipment, room for sequencing. | Head Start for expectant parents and their dogs. This class is designed to prepare your canine companion for the arrival of your baby by teaching your dog the 4 things every dog should know before your baby arrives. Behaviors taught are : Leave It, Give/Drop-it/Retrieve, Boundary Training, Go to Place. This class will cover how to get your dog to do the behavior and then work on real life baby objects, proofing the behaviors by adding in distractions. This class is not a dog behavior class and will not address issues such as resource guarding, stranger aggression or stress and anxiety around children. If these issues are present, we recommend private lessons. This is a dog training class for friendly dogs.
